Jason Cox has been a pillar of the Owensboro golf scene for over 33 years. A Hall of Fame golfer at Brescia University, Jason refined his skills to become one of the top tournament golfers in Kentucky, securing multiple victories at various competitive levels. His success on the course fueled a passion for the game that led him to dedicate his career to serving the golfing community.
With over 25 years of experience, Jason has worn many hats in the golf industry, including golf shop manager, golf shop owner, head golf professional, professional club fitter, college golf coach, and host of the TV show Golf in the Tri-State Competition. His deep-rooted love for the game has now evolved into his latest endeavor—The Golf Emporium.
At The Golf Emporium, we strive to provide every golfer with a unique, personalized experience tailored to their individual goals and aspirations. Our philosophy is captured in our slogan: “Golf Made Better.” Whether you’re a beginner just discovering the game or a seasoned tournament player seeking a competitive edge, The Golf Emporium is here to help you elevate your game.
When not helping Jason man the store, Tracy serves as the Executive Director of the Owensboro Health Foundation. Tracy refers to herself as a fair-weather golfer but an expert shopper. While she may not contribute much to the technical aspects of the game, she deserves all the credit for creating the unique, comfortable, home-like vibe of the shop. She enjoys the thrill of finding the latest fashion trends and gifts for golfers of all ages and truly embraces the idea of lifestyle golf.
“I want everyone who walks in our front door to feel like they’ve walked into our home.”
Jason and Tracy have been married since 2016. Jason has two daughters, Chloe and Maggie. Chloe will soon be a PhD student at the University of Minnesota and Maggie is studying Christian Ministry at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. They are also the devoted parents of Arnie McDivots, their Cavapoo dog.
Jason and Tracy knew they wanted their shop to be much more than a retail athletic store. It could not be average. They wanted it to be filled with beautiful pieces and offer a unique approach to a golf-centered shopping experience. It needed to embrace lifestyle golf, not just the game of golf. They wanted to offer a wide variety of services and offerings with a personal and beautiful touch. “Emporium” was the perfect word to embrace the feeling and environment they wanted to create.
Jason’s dad, Taylor, passed away on July 4, 2024. A Leo, he embraced everything sporting a lion. From headcovers, to keychains, to jewelry, clothing, and knick knacks, lions were sprinkled around everywhere you might find Taylor. He was easily identified by his thick mustache. It only seemed fitting that The Golf Emporium logo be a lion. The final nod to Taylor and the legacy he left behind is the eight strands of his mane, one for each of his eight, yes eight, holes in one.
